Assault rifles are the most adaptable weapons in Call of Duty. Whether you’re shooting an enemy from 10 meters or 100 meters, they can get the job done. Their ability to perform well in most situations is a massive strength that’s exclusive to this weapon class.

The Black Ops 6 integration saw 7 new Assault Rifles added to Warzone, with a further two coming in later seasons. This has drastically shaken up the meta, with some rifles rising to the top and others falling out of favor. Here are the best assault rifle loadouts and recommended builds to use in Season 2 Reloaded.

Best Assault Rifle loadouts in Warzone

1. Cypher 091

The Cypher 091 was already a meta contender, but with it getting buffed in Season 2 Reloaded and both the Model L and XM4 getting nerfed, it has now taken the top spot. This is the best assault rifle in Warzone, with its high accuracy, great range, and fast TTK making it an outstanding option in all the areas that matter.

What’s especially impressive about this gun is that it always kills within one second, even at extreme ranges. This means as long as you hit shots, there isn’t a distance where the Cypher 091 won’t be competitive. To make landing shots easier, be sure to use the Compensator, which increases recoil control considerably.

2. AMES 85

Although unspectacular, the AMES 85 is a strong weapon that received some big buffs at the start of Season 2. This may seem like a small change, but its damage is the only thing really holding the AMES back, so any buffs in this department are a big deal.

Although it didn’t get stronger in the mid-season update, most of its rivals were nerfed while this remained untouched. As such, it has jumped up the rankings to second, only narrowly losing out to the Cypher 091. Just be sure to equip the Vertical Foregrip to make its recoil as predictable as possible, as it can be tricky to use otherwise.

3. Model L

Taking the place of the XM4, the Model L is now the most accurate assault rifle. While this weapon is technically outgunned by other meta options, its high accuracy makes it more consistent and a good choice for casual players.

However, for this to be true, you’ll need to use both the Compensator and Vertical Foregrip. These make the Model L accurate enough to be worth using over its closest rivals. However, it was nerfed in Season 2 Reloaded, meaning it now gets outgunned by both the Cypher 091 and AMES 85, making it a little harder to justify.

4. Goblin Mk2

If you believe you are a skilled Warzone player, you need to give the Goblin Mk2 a go. With just six rounds, you can down a player, resulting in an outrageous TTK of just 649 ms.

This makes the Goblin Mk2 by far the fasting-killing assault rifle, so it only felt right to include it on this list. There’s no way to make this gun noob-friendly, but using attachments that reduce recoil, like the Compensator and Vertical Foregrip, helps considerably. You’ll also want a meta optic like the Jason Armory 2x, as a precision weapon like this is hopeless with iron sights.

5. AK-74

In terms of raw damage, the AK-74 beats out the overwhelming majority of other full-auto weapons. Even better, it was given a range buff in Season 2 Reloaded, so this gun is more versatile than ever.

Given this, you would expect the AK-74 to rank at the top of this list, but its sporadic recoil makes it a poor choice for long-range engagements. However, if it’s a medium-range build for Resurgence you want, this assault rifle is very competitive. Be sure to use both the Compensator and Vertical Foregrip to improve recoil control and make landing shots as easy as possible.
